One in Four Are Victims ???
Originally, 1:4 warned of a hill's steepness in the 1970s UK, before being replaced by road signs saying 25%. This formerly most common of hazardous inclines meant that every four units of a road's horizontal distance had one unit of vertical rise. Then in the late 1980s, British media began a misguided campaign to accentuate mental problems, by declaring that *one in four* people suffered mental illness at one time, imitating the road sign warning. Later, others copied this idea, publicly declaring that *one in four* women suffered ongoing domestic violence and *one in four* women were sexual assault victims. Then in 2025 I saw an ad saying that *one in four* Jewish Americans were victims of hate last year. I acknowledge that such abuses have sometimes occurred, and I denounce such abuse of women and Jewish people. However, these supposed statistics make men look terrible, and Gentile people terrible.
